Michigan State University is a is a public research university, and it was the first land-grant institution when established. Considered to be one of America’s Public Ivy universities, now it is the ninth-largest university in the United States. Applicants for the university are required to have taken either SAT or ACT tests, and ACT with writing test is required as well. Moreover, High school diploma is necessary and GED is accepted. Among academic factors considered GPA and standardized test scores are very important.

COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID

The tuitions and fees for year 2011-2012 is USD 12,203 to students who are in state and for those who are out of state it is USD 31,148. Students spend USD 996 for books and USD 8,154 for room and board on average.

With the average need-based scholarship or grant award of $8,887, 50.2 percent of full-time undergraduates in the university receive some kind of need-based financial aid.
