OVERVIEW

San Jacinto College is a community college in the United States. Surrounded by the monuments of history, industries and maritime enterprises of today, and the space age of tomorrow, it has been servicing the community in East Harris County, Texas. Now it offers certificates and associate’s degree with over 30,000 students.

Established in 1961, San Jacinto College has been serving the areas of Channelview ISD, Galena Park ISD, Deer Park ISD, La Porte ISD, Pasadena ISD, and Sheldon ISD. It has three locations, namely San Jacinto College Central, San Jacinto College North, and San Jacinto College South, and several extension centers, such as Clear View Extension Center, Galena Park High School Extension Center, and Technology and Maritime Center, etc.

San Jacinto offers certificates and associate’s degrees, and provides its students with opportunities to complete classes in Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic level programs with more than 200 degree and certificate as options.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The application for San Jac needs to be done online, with some information, including your name, home/current address, mailing address, personal information, program of study/major, date of high school graduation, previous colleges attended and degrees awarded, and residency required. After submission, the application will be processed within 48 business hours, and then confirmation will be delivered to the email address you have left during the application.

COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID

For 2011-12 academic year, the tuition is USD 1486 for full-time area residents, or USD 38 per credit hour for part-time area residents, and USD 2286 for full-time state residents, and USD 63 per credit hour for part-time state residents. For nonresidents, it is USD 3866 for full-time students, and USD 113 per credit hour for part-time students.

A range of need-based financial aids are offered to students at San Jac, and various factors are taken into consideration when deciding what kind of financial aids a student may receive. The financial aids vary in types including grants, loans, scholarships, and employment.
