Palm Beach State College

OVERVIEW

As Florida’s first public community college, Palm Beach State College intends to meet the educational needs of Palm Beach County. With an acceptance rate of 100%, it enrolls more than 51,000 students in over 100 programs of study.

Founded in 1933, the college is located in Lake Worth, Florida, United States. Besides, it also has other locations to serve students in Belle Glade (1978), Palm Beach Gardens (1982) and Boca Raton (1983).

The college offers degrees in associate’s, bachelor’s programs. It has produced thousands of alumni over the years, some of which are notable people.

ACADEMICS

Palm Beach State College comprises 31 schools, ranging from agriculture and related sciences, biological and biomedical sciences to transpotation and materials moving.

The college is not ranked in the U.S. News and World Report.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Except selective admission to some programs, all students who graduate or get GED are admitted. SAT/ACT is required for nursing and dental programs and CPT or SAT/ACT can be used for placement for all.

COSTS AND FINANCIAL AID

The tuitions and fees for year 2011-2012 is USD 2,880 for students who are in state and for those who are out of state it is USD 10,470. Students spend USD 1,000 for books and USD 5,200 for room and board on average.

The college provides many types of aid, such as grants, loans, and Florida Bright Futures. And financial aid is more than just student loans. There are grants available from Federal, State of Florida and College sources, available to full-time or part-time students, as long as students are citizens or permanent residents.
